Normandy offers magnificent landscapes, places steeped in history, large green spaces, etc. Apart from these remarkable sites, the region has a fascinating regional heritage and industrial know-how.

Take a little break from your schedule and book this day of surprising discoveries with family, group, or friends. This rich programme of meetings and face-to-face meetings is sure to interest and entertain both adults and children.

At Poses in the Eure department, the Seinoscope, located near the dam is an observatory 235 meters long, built between 1878 and 1881, equipped with a room with three bay windows, below the water level, and a viewing chamber. This is the only viewing chamber on the Seine open to the public!

This base includes a fish pass, a device offering them the possibility of going up the Seine and passing the dam, which is the first obstacle on the Seine, so that they can reproduce in freshwater or simply live their life.

Two species of fish cross the dam: migrants who have sometimes travelled thousands of kilometers such as salmon, trout, lampreys, shad, eels or the most ordinary such as roach, barbel, bleak and bream.

The video-counting system set up in this room makes it possible to count the exact number of fish that migrate and to ensure scientific monitoring over the seasons.

In the company of a specialised animator, you will be able to observe, through the windows, the migration of fish from the river. You can also better understand the operation of this establishment or learn more about the fish of the Seine, thanks to the information panels.

You will continue with a guided tour of the Biotropica zoological greenhouse, located in Val-de-Reuil in the Seine valley, and the second most explored site in Eure. This ten-hectare park, created in 2012, ranked among the best in Normandy, welcomes many visitors every year and has many surprises in store for you!

In a lush green setting divided into several circuits, mixing tropical forest, Asian garden and African bush, you will discover many fantastic and unusual animal species with hair, feathers or scales. You will evolve in a true concentration of nature where the well-being and the preservation of the residents remain a great priority!

Every day, the park does everything it can to conserve endangered animals and all its energy to save endangered species such as the red panda, giant turtles, the Comodo dragon, the sloth, etc.

The animal reserve consists of an indoor course and a second outdoors. The gardens, waterfalls and vegetation offer a breathtaking view.

In the tropical greenhouse, you will meet rare species that you will not see in any other park, mole rats, Leopoldi rays, black fish with golden dots, elephant shrews, azure frog with blue skin, and Mississippi alligators.

Many aquariums are home to strange animals such as tiger catfish, endangered freshwater fish or the enormous arapaïma.

You will be able to admire, in the greenhouse of the birds, magnificent parrots, rainbow lorikeets that fly towards the public, pinched tamarins or emperors and small monkeys.

You will be amazed to see, in the enclosure of the African bush, free penguins, kangaroos, wallabies who are not afraid to approach visitors, meerkats or the Sudanese cheetah.

The famous red panda and the attractive dwarf otters blooming in the heart of the Asian Garden will amaze you! Your guide will lead you to the Pelican Lake where all kinds of birds hunt and roost.

The Children’s Farm where dwarf donkeys, mandarin ducks, owls, guinea pigs, turkeys, giant rabbits and many others roam freely will not fail to fascinate young and old alike!

Live a hectic and unique adventure

This cradle of commercial aviation, with Art Deco architecture, had the privilege of seeing aviation heroes, including Charles Lindbergh, Nungesser, Coli, etc.

This vast domain is divided into several zones. The Grande Galerie brings together models and drawings and a unique collection of engines, 18th and 19th century balloons, airships, hot-air balloon nacelles, etc.The Montgolfier brothers’ medallion (1783) is on display there.

Many reconstructions of 19th century flying machines are presented, such as the Massia-Biot glider, that of Otto Lilienthal and the Winged Barque of Jean-Marie Le Bris.

You will walk through the various halls: 1939-1945, prototypes, rotating cars, from the interwar period, the air pioneers, Normandie-Niemen and the room of 8 columns.

You will be able to admire the innumerable collections: the capsule of the Soyuz spacecraft, helicopters, fighter planes or even the Jaguar A91 of the first Gulf War. On the tarmac, you will have the pleasure of observing planes on static display and rockets, the Boeing 747, Ariane 1 and 5, as well as the A380.

As you continue your visit, you will see the technicians, mechanics and carpenters working for the rehabilitation of the aircraft and engine collections. This long-term work is carried out to preserve the memory of the site and to pass on this heritage and know-how to the younger generations.

This guided tour, open to young and old alike, allows you to conquer the skies from the flight of Icarus to Concorde.

A creative play area has been specially designed for children aged 6 to 12. They will take the controls from a cockpit. Flight simulators are also available for flight lessons. Rest assured parents can take advantage of these activities.

The museum houses the Planetarium, a mysterious place that mesmerises children and adults alike. It is a dome dedicated to the planetary and solar systems. Just be seated and let yourself be carried away by a navigation into the universe.

A specialist will show you the circumference of the sun and a few tips for locating the different stars and constellations. The projection room is equipped with a Zeiss Skymaster ZKP3 planetary gear. The documentary shown combines, at the delight of all visitors, magical images, starry skies, celestial jewels, clouds and the cosmos.

Apart from Venus, Mars, Jupiter which you already know, you will discover other extrasolar stars like 51 Pegasi b or 55 Cancri c.

Reserve this day to discover places of memory and industrial know-how in Essonne, south of Paris, Île-de-France region.

Bordered by the Essonne river, the town of La Ferté Allais has a surprising museum that is sure to please everyone, young and old alike.

The guided tour of the Salis Flight Museum remains a real human adventure transmitted with passion. The extraordinary work accomplished by its founder Jean Baptiste SALIS to enhance and preserve the aeronautical heritage of the Cerny aerodrome today allows us to admire an impressive collection dedicated to ancient aviation.

Jean Baptiste Salis’s vocation began when Blériot crossed the Channel in 1909. He began an exceptional aeronautical career: an instructor during the war of 14, pilot for the Prime Minister of the Air, and the first pilot to fly over Mont-Blanc in 1953.

Three years later, at 59, he decided to make his childhood dream come true by crossing the English Channel with the Blériot XI, a single-seater plane made of ash wood that he himself rehabilitated.

In 1938, he acquired the Ardenay farm, where he transferred his aeronautical activities (mechanics, maintenance, purchase and sale of planes, construction, etc.). The land officially became La Ferté-Alais aerodrome in 1946.

Invaded by the same taste for freedom, his son Jean and grandson Edmond will not hesitate to take up the challenge. When their father died in 1967, Jean and his sister Irene set off in search of the planes that marked his career.

Associations and private collectors join the adventure to enlarge and complete the collection. Today, the Salis Flight Museum offers visitors the opportunity to discover the legendary aircraft in chronological order: from the pioneers of aviation to the beginnings of air travel, the Great War, sport and leisure aviation of the interwar period. …

You will be in awe of the Morane-Saulniers built between 1927 and 1943. These planes, listed as historical monuments, unique in the world, are in a state of flight like all the others elsewhere.

Admire the flamboyant Stinson, red and white, a reproduction of the one used by Al Capone, the Boeing B-17, the last of WWII, or the famous Blériot XI, offered by factory workers to Louis Blériot.

After this astonishing adventure in the clouds, you will continue your journey by discovering the Miellerie located in Boutigny-sur-Essonne, rich in local know-how.

Camille and Thierry Sergent, professional beekeepers since 1989, founded La Miellerie in 2000. These two nature lovers share their fascinating world with visitors. They are the only producers of royal jelly in Île-de-France!

Surrounded by a garden of aromatic and medicinal plants, this botanical heritage is a true haven of peace and an invitation to discover the techniques of honey production, the work of bees and their needs.

Miellerie du Gâtinais now has more than 400 bee colonies in beehives and produces several ranges of guaranteed GMO-free, quality and unprocessed honeys: all flowers, spring, forest, chestnut, acacia, heather, amongst others.

Apart from the honeys, the establishment offers for sale organic gingerbread, fresh pollen, propolis, etc. Do not miss this opportunity to bring home these 100% natural products, without added sugar, not heated to more than 30 °, renowned for their smoothness, softness and virtues.

This visit is also part of an awareness-raising process for children and adults. Camille and Thierry will explain to you why plants, bees and other insects play an important role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem.

Share this experiential educational, cultural and responsible journey with family, friends or in a group.

The secret garden of the Île-de-France, Essonne (91) is full of remarkable sites: magnificent landscapes, natural parks, emblematic gardens, castles… Apart from a rich historical heritage, this region hides a surprising industrial and economic know-how .

In Palaiseau, you will discover, through a guided tour, an extraordinary museum: the Mus’X, a polytechnic school with more than 226 years of history. This exceptional place is divided into two areas, a space for permanent exhibitions and another dedicated to temporary exhibitions.

The museum space, open to all, exhibits the remarkable collection of historical and artistic instruments acquired over the centuries. Its mission is to safeguard, pass on to future generations this extraordinary heritage and promote it to visitors.

The Revolution of 1793 seriously disrupted schools and students gradually deserted education. In 1794, Gaspard Monge, Jacques-Élie Lamblardie, and Lazare Carnot, scientists, created the central school of public works to compensate for the lack of engineers and senior executives.

It became École Polytechnique in 1795. In 1804, Napoleon I felt that this institution lacked discipline and gave it military status. Located on the Sainte-Geneviève mountain in Paris, the school moved to the Palaiseau campus in 1976.

Initially reserved for men, the academy will open to women. Catherine Monge, wife of the founder, animated a salon (salon of lights) where the spouses Bonaparte, Berthollet and Carnot liked to meet.

The school will see illustrious figures such as Henri Becquerel, Nobel Prize winner in physics, Pierre and Marie Curie, Joseph Joffre, Étienne Buffet, Valéry Giscard d´Estaing, former President of the Republic and many more.

In the course of your route, several themes will be addressed: mathematics, electricity, chemistry, science … Your guide will tell you the history of this prestigious school and you will be able to admire in the library many scientific instruments, archives, old books, iconography, uniforms of yesteryear …

You will have the pleasure of seeing up close exceptional pieces that date back to the establishment of the establishment, and many other incredible objects such as an 18th century microscope made for King Louis XV, by Magny, optician.

This visit promises you a real immersion in the daily life of students, teachers and researchers from various eras.

You will go, in the company of your guide, to the SOLEIL Synchrotron Research Center (LURE Optimised Intermediate Energy Light Source) located in the heart of the Saclay plateau in Saint Aubin.

The center, inaugurated by Jacques Chirac in 2006, houses many laboratories and various facilities: the synchrotron building with a high-performance X-ray source, the control room and an experimental hall.

This spaceship-like infrastructure houses one of 4 particle accelerators (electrons) producing light 10,000 times brighter than the sunlight provided by a storage ring over 300 meters.

Thanks to this light, scientists can study living things (cells, bacteria, viruses, etc.) or inert matter (batteries, packaging, pollutants, etc.). Many researchers who are not part of the Center come every year to carry out experiments!

During your tour, you will discover this surprising cutting-edge technology which has allowed considerable advances in various fields such as pharmacy, medicine, chemistry, nuclear power, nanotechnologies, micromechanics, microelectronics …

This unique guided tour takes you into the mysterious world of research and the infinitely small matters! (Due to the presence of magnets, the site remains prohibited for children under 12 and people equipped with pacemakers, insulin pumps, etc.).

Le Puy-du-Fou in Epesses (85) located in the centre of a forest, between Cholet and La Roche-sur-Yon received the title of best park in the world in 2012. And for good reason, this place does not resemble any other leisure parks. Time travel and the stories of France, and more particularly that of the Vendée await you!

This site gives way to a Renaissance castle built in the 15th and 16th centuries. In 1794, General Louis-Marie Turreau affirmed his desire to plunder and destroy villages and hamlets. On January 26 of the same year, the infernal columns or incendiary columns arrived in Epesses. The castle would not escape the devastating flames. The walls and the left wing were spared.

After having been the property of different families, Maître Louis Savard Notaire acquired the burg and the land in 1947 and restored the premises. The building was classified as a historical monument in 1962. His heir son sold it to the General Council of Vendée in 1977. Philippe de Villiers, then sub-prefect of Vendée, discovered the castle, fell under its spell and wrote his show “La Cinéscénie” which was very successful.

Each year more than 2 million people flock to browse the Park, attend various performances such as the Cinesceny, the Wedding of Fire or the Imaginary World of La Fontaine.

Immerse in the heart of an incredible story staged at the typical Café de la Madelon and do not miss the magnificent shows accompanied by special effects, waterfalls, giant machinery and adventures; a real treat for young and old alike.

Then head to Saumur, the Mecca of French horse riding, for a special guided tour. The Black Frame promises civic and cultural enrichment.

This prestigious equestrian school, which was open to the public in 1968 and listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2011, educates senior managers of the National Riding School.

After the Revolution, Louis XVIII created in 1815 the school of mounted troops dedicated to the formation of an elite corps for the training of horses. Did you know that the name Black Frame refers to the color of the squires’ outfits?

You will discover the history and the universe of this famous institute, the stables, the large arena, the saddlery, etc. The school’s mission is to transmit this exceptional heritage and to maintain the French tradition of horse riding built over the centuries.

Apart from the reputation of the Black Frame, the city of Saumur invites you to discover its pretty pedestrian streets, magnificent residences and troglodyte dwellings.

On foot or by small electric train, this place will amaze you. Among the many monuments, the castle of Saumur, classified as a Historic Monument, remains the unmissable and emblematic building of the city.

This fortress resembling a fairy-tale castle, erected in the tenth heaven by Thibaud le Tricheur, Count of Blois, offers an absolutely remarkable view.

Alternately the residence of the governors of Saumur, prison, arms and ammunition depot, the city acquired the building in 1906 and today houses the municipal museum, labeled Musée de France.

A stone’s throw away, the city of Angers, capital of Anjou, is full of treasures and historic places. On request, you can visit, accompanied by a guide, the 13th-century royal fortress and the Terra Botanica theme park, revealing the secrets of six centuries of plant history.

Inside the fortress, you can admire the Apocalypse tapestry, commissioned by Louis 1st of Anjou in 1375. This unique work, woven in wool and composed of 6 pieces, describes an illustration between the property and the mall of the last book of the bible.

This day punctuated by the discovery of our exceptional regional heritage and industrial savoir-faire will delight both adults and children.

The small village of Chemilly-Sur-Yonne, near Auxerre, has a remarkable and exquisite site: the artisanal and family-run factory, Le Borvo, specialised in smoking salmon.

Did you know how salmonids are smoked and prepared? This guided tour allows you to discover the techniques behind a unique art, passed down from generation to generation to serve you the best product on your plate.

Over 40 years of experience for an exceptional product!

Daniel Raymond, a former chef in Paris and holder of a Michelin star, created the Le Borvo workshop in 1980, one of the first independent establishments in producing high quality smoked salmon.

This enthusiast who started his activity with only 2 employees has always strived to promote his flagship product and now has 70 employees. It has become the European benchmark in the gastronomic field. Indeed, in addition to the reputation forged among the great French restaurateurs, the reputation of the Raymond house has gone beyond our borders!

Building on his success, Daniel Raymond uses his expertise and offers, as a caterer, cooked dishes, terrines and verrines made without additives, colouring or preservatives.

During this course, plenty of resourceful information will be shared with you, namely, the species used, the origin, the processing methods, the ancestral and current method of preserving the fish, etc. You will also discover the different preparation processes: filleting, salting, smoking. The manual slicing performed right in front of your eyes will amaze you!

Your guide will tell you the story behind this fascinating and informative family saga. Concerned about preserving the environment and consumer satisfaction, the company works mainly with raw materials from livestock.

Explore Auxerre differently!

Treat yourself to a river cruise along with one of the most beautiful canals in France, the Nivernais canal in Auxerre, between the Loire basin and that of the Yonne.

Now intended for pleasure boating, the canal, built in the 19th century, connecting the Loire and the Seine, was used at the time for the transportation of goods.

You will be seduced by this boat trip, where you will come across magnificent hilly landscapes, vineyards, castles, locks and authentic villages. It is a truly charming set-up and a pleasant moment of serenity that you can share with family, group or lovers.
Auxerre, labelled city of art and history, is the second preserved sector of Burgundy and is full of remarkable buildings and cultural riches.

Wish to treat yourself with a Parisian trip out of the ordinary ?

Enter the backstage of the stained glass house and the Paris Mint for an unique experience in these artistic workshops!

The stained glass house was founded in 1973 by Christiane and Philippe Andrieux and is situated in Paris in the 15th arrondissement, which is rich in industrial heritage and an ancestral savoir-faire recognized worldwide.

The parents of Emmanuelle Andrieux have passed on the passion for crafting stained glasses to her. She has taken this familial business in her hands and offers her services to restore and create stained glass windows from the simplest to the most complicated form.

The technique of blowing glass was initiated long ago by the Roman Empire ! The savoir-faire never stopped progressing over centuries. During the Middle-Age, the stained glass would experience a golden age thanks to the building of many edifices.

Today, even if this noble job of crafting this material has not changed much since the Middle Age, this job, registered since 2019 in the repertoire of the immaterial cultural heritage inventory, remains uncommon. That is why, the visit of the Stained-glass House, certified Living Heritage Company, is a good way to discover or rediscover this complex art.

Philippe Andrieux, speaker and Master Glassmakers president, redrew the history of the most beautiful works and creations of the stained glass windows around the world. In the workshop, you will be able to admire the talent of the craftspersons who master perfectly the technique of lead stained glass and that of Tiffany joints executed with copper wire soldered with tin.

These artists will unveil to you the different phases of production; how they cut, polish and assemble each piece of glass with an extreme rigour until the painting or dyeing. You will be enthralled by these beautiful pieces which are exposed in the gallery.

Thanks to the fame which it has acquired, the Stained-glass House was entrusted with the restoration of an exceptional piece: the cupola built in the 19th century by Gustave Eiffle which is contained by the Vernet hotel to Paris.

The Stained-glass House demonstrates a wish to safeguard and preserve the integrity of the job. That is why it organizes introductory courses open for everyone. Let yourself be charmed by this visit and enjoy this exemplary savoir-faire.

The Paris Mint : A strongbox accessible for public

The Paris Mint, created on the 25th June 864, is the oldest business of the world and the oldest institution of France, and is still functioning. Visit the 11 Conti of the Paris Mint, its 12 centuries of fascinating histories and its remarkable architectural heritage !

Charles le Chauve (823-877), the king of the western Francie, grandson of the emperor Charlemagne, promulgated an edict : the Edict of Pitres. This action stipulated the denarius production rules as well as the list of the taping places, including the Paris workshop.

The building of the edifice, both a Palace and a factory which you can still admire today, started in 1771 (foundations of 1769). King Louis XV gave the mission to Jacques-Denis Antoine, architect, to design a new coin hotel in front of the Louvre and the Nine Bridge.

That is how the establishment, officially set up on the Conti quay in the 6th arrondissement on the 20th of December 1775, is born. From september 1796, it was linked to the ministry of the economy, the finances and the Industry.

In January 2007, the Paris Mint became an Industrial and Commercial Public Establishment and obtained, in 2012, the label of Living Heritage Company.

This palace of neoclassical style with rectilinear forms and garnished with wonderful ornamental sculpture has kept all its splendour. The building contains, from now on, a museum devoted to the metal art, a shop of art products, currency collections and a variety of workshops, where a collection of coins, honour medal jewels and objects are created.

Since 2017, the Paris Mint has opened its doors to present you its production secrets through a ludique and interactive experience around metal work. Discover also the work of many trades: engravers, modellers, chiselers, minters, stampers…

You will be able to admire the historical devices, the currency collections, art products, works, french and foreign medals, paintings, sculpture… From metal mining to hammering, the mechanical press and the techniques evolutions, currency production will have no more mystery to you.

This fascinating, fun and didactic day will offer privileged moments to share in family, couple or group, in must-see places.

The programme is defined as follows :

The museum is located in a former municipal swimming pool in Roubaix (59) built by Albert Baert Architecte between 1927 and 1932. The inhabitants, from all social backgrounds, benefited from high-quality sports and health services until the establishment closed its doors in 1985 due to the fragility of the vault.

The City Council and the Directorate of Museums of France decided to renovate this magical place to safeguard a remarkable regional heritage and keep the soul of the site. The works took place from January 1998 until the end of autumn 2001 and the Museum of Art and Industry was born.

The swimming pool, located in the centerpiece of the museum, exudes all its splendour! You will be amazed by the beauty of the materials that surround it.
